Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common queries about our booking service in Jamaica.

4Drive Jamaica connects travelers with local Jamaican operators. You book through us, receive a voucher, then finalize directly with the operator at pickup. Most questions relate to the booking flow, documents needed, and what happens at the counter. Below are the answers.

Booking & Payment

Understanding how reservations and advance payments work keeps the process smooth.

What is a booking advance?
An advance payment secures your reservation. The balance, along with any deposit or additional fees, is handled when you collect the vehicle from the operator in Jamaica. Your voucher specifies the total agreed rate.
Can I book without a credit card?
Yes. Many operators we work with accept debit cards or cash at pickup, and several waive deposit requirements entirely. Check the operator's terms in your voucher; 4Drive Jamaica ensures you have no-credit-card options.
How do I modify or cancel my booking?
Contact us at [email protected] or call +1 876 952 4417. Cancellation and change policies vary by operator and are outlined in your voucher. We assist with rebooking whenever possible.

Documents & Driver Requirements

Knowing what to bring avoids delays at the counter in Montego Bay or other pickup points.

What documents do I need?
A valid driver's license held for at least one year, passport, and your voucher. Some operators request proof of return flight. International licenses from certain countries may require a local permit obtainable at the operator's desk.
What is the minimum age to drive?
Typically 21 years, though operators may set 23 or 25 for certain vehicle categories. Drivers under 25 sometimes face a young-driver supplement. Check the voucher for your specific operator's age policy.

Vehicle Pickup & Fuel

Details on collecting your vehicle and returning it with the correct fuel level.

Where do I collect the vehicle?
Most operators meet you at Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay or at their office on Gloucester Avenue. Your voucher lists the exact address and contact number. Call ahead if your flight is delayed.
What is the fuel policy?
Standard is full-to-full: you receive a full tank and return it full. Petcom and Total stations are common along A1 and in towns. Failing to refuel incurs a refueling charge set by the operator, detailed in the rental agreement.

Insurance & Deposit

Clarifying coverage and what the operator may hold at pickup.

Is insurance included?
Basic third-party liability is mandatory in Jamaica and included in your rate. Collision damage waiver and theft protection are often bundled; review your voucher. Operators may offer additional excess-reduction plans at their counter.
Will a deposit be required?
Some operators hold a deposit via card pre-authorization or cash; others waive it altogether when comprehensive coverage is purchased. The voucher states the operator's deposit terms explicitly.
